Check Your Welcome Email
After signing up, you'll receive a welcome email containing:
- Your username (format: ehs_yourname_1234)
- Your temporary password
- Links to download the backup software
Download the Backup Software
Download the app for your device:
Sign In to the App
Open the backup software and sign in with:
- Email: The email address you signed up with
- Password: The temporary password from your welcome email
Choose What to Back Up
Select the files and folders to protect. We recommend:
- Documents — Word files, spreadsheets, PDFs
- Photos — Your photo library
- Desktop — Files on your desktop
- Downloads — Important downloads
Your First Backup Begins
The initial backup starts automatically:
- First backup may take several hours depending on data size and internet speed
- Runs in the background — keep using your computer normally
- System tray icon shows progress
- After the first backup, only new/changed files are uploaded
Access Files Anywhere
Once backed up, access your files from:
- Desktop app: Browse and restore directly
- Mobile app: View and download on your phone
- Web portal: files.livedrive.com from any browser
Restoring Files
To recover files:
- Open the software and click "Restore"
- Browse to the file or folder
- Select the version you want
- Click "Restore" and choose save location
Restore individual files, folders, or your complete backup to a new computer.

It depends on your data size and upload speed. Roughly 10GB takes 2-4 hours on typical broadband. The software runs in the background.
No. It's lightweight and automatically throttles when you're working, backing up faster when idle.
You'll receive a reminder email. Choose to continue at the plan price, or your account is paused with data retained for 30 days.
